✤ Q & A ✤
What is your go-to hostess gift?
I love bringing a great set of Garnier Thibaut hand towels!
Favorite scent for the home?
Trudon x Giambattista Valli’s Positano.
What is your signature cocktail or meal for entertaining?
In the summer, I love to make Ina Garten’s Panzanella- colorful and always flavorful. In the winter, I’ve been experimenting with the many variations of soufflé by Julia Childs' in Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
What made you choose Casa Branca for these spaces?
I love the classical concepts with their slight spin! The Madagascar wallpaper collection includes a timeless foundation, but then introduces zippy colors and block print motifs that bring an unexpected dimension of chic—especially on grasscloth. In addition to loving the Casa Branca products, we adore working with the sales team members, who are incredibly attentive, thoughtful and always lovely to work with.
Where do you draw your design inspiration from?
When my children were young, we lived in Paris for two summers—it was a formative experience for us all. As such, I truly gravitate toward 18th century Neoclassicism, and that city is so chock full of it! I also find myself constantly inspired by the natural world, whether it’s on a trail run, a ski mountain, or at the beach. The colors, textures and patterns are ever-changing, nuanced and beautiful.
Tips for designing with color and pattern?
Don’t be afraid! Go into your closet, discover what you love, and use it. Don’t worry—there is no such thing as “wrong” when it’s a question of color. As far as pattern, I have a strong affinity to stripes, or anything tone on tone.
Favorite Casa Branca fabric, wallpaper, or item. :)
My favorite Casa Branca fabric is the Lino Branca Stripe, I adore it in Green and Red. Alessandra does stripes so well—they’re mostly tone on tone, but she’s also not afraid of contrast. My favorite wallpaper is the Branca Stripe in Madagascar. The raffia is such a fun twist on an otherwise classic motif. I also find that the paper is so versatile—I recently incorporated it into a stairhall of a guest house in the mountains. I especially love the Brighton Octagonal Ottoman and Brighton Sofa. The furniture pieces are so original and grounded, with great lines, and the custom sizing is a great option for perfecting scale larger or smaller if needed. Upholstered in any Casa Branca textile, of course!
