Performance Fabric Care

The Casa Branca Performance Collection is woven of durable, all-weather 100% solution-dyed acrylic. Produced via a special wet spinning process in which pigments are injected to the polymer solution before extruding into the fiber, it features excellent color fastness for fabrics that remain rich in color and do not fade even after exposure to intense sunlight. The collection also features excellent resistance to mold and fungi in all extreme weather conditions. Our fabrics feel soft and comfortable and have the hand of fine interior fabrics. They will retain their color and strength and will withstand years of normal exposure to sunlight and rain. They are easy to clean and perfect for indoors and out. A technical sheet may be provided upon request.

Easy Cleaning
Blot liquid spills as soon as they occur, or spot treat stains according to our recommendations. Most stains can be cleaned up with a mild soap and water solution. Simply wash with a solution of soapy water using a very soft bristle brush and then rinse thoroughly. For tough stains i.e. beer, wine, coffee, orange juice, white vinegar may be added. Bleach may also be used but it is important to follow the directions provided. See detailed cleaning instructions below and refer to our technical sheet which may be provided upon request. For more difficult stains please consult a furniture cleaning professional who has experience with 100% solution-dyed acrylic.

Maintenance
Proper maintenance will lengthen time between deep or vigorous cleanings. This can be accomplished by simply brushing off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabrics, wiping up spills as soon as they occur or spot cleaning soon after stains occur.

Cushion Interiors for Outdoor Use
Remember that fabric used for outdoor upholstery requires fiberfill that is suitable for outdoor use. Please consult with your workroom for correct specifications. Do not use indoor fiberfill for outdoor cushions because they may mildew and mold if used outdoors - even if they are covered in solution-dyed acrylic textiles.

Ironing
Performance textiles are heat sensitive and may shrink if subjected to high heat from commercial dryers or steam irons. We recommend temperature to be set on the synthetic setting. Always test a small inconspicuous area before ironing the entire piece. DO NOT use a steamer or iron set to steam setting.

Bleach
When using bleach, be sure to protect the area around your Performance textiles. Bleach may discolor non-Performance textiles. Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and ¼ cup mild soap per gallon of water. Make sure trim is 100% solution-dyed acrylic, if not, you will bleach the color out of trim and ruin your upholstery. Always rinse thoroughly to completely remove bleach.

General Cleaning
Please read all steps carefully prior to cleaning. For best results and ease of cleaning, immediate attention is necessary. Do not leave stains or dirt on fabric for days prior to cleaning.
  1. Brush off any loose dirt.
  2. Prepare a cleaning solution of 1/4 cup mild soap such as Woolite or Dawn dishwashing liquid per gallon of lukewarm water.
  3. Use a sponge or a very soft bristle brush to clean.
  4. Allow cleaning solution to soak into fabric.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove soap and air dry.

Spot Cleaning
  1. Apply a light mist of mild soap and water using a spray bottle.
  2. Work the solution into the stain by lightly scrubbing the area with a sponge or very soft bristle brush.
  3. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
  4. Blot excess moisture with a clean, soft towel or sponge.
  5. Wet vacuum or blot excess water.
  6. Air dry. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all soap residue is removed.

For Removable Fabric
  1. Soak fabric in a solution of 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of lukewarm water.
  2. Use a sponge or a very soft bristle brush as necessary.
  3. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
  4. Air dry.

Machine Washing
Machine wash in cold water. Depending on wash load size, use normal amounts of mild laundry detergent and add 1 cup of bleach.
Allow fabric to air dry. Do not tumble dry.
Heavy Cleaning for Stubborn Stains and Mildew
  1. Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and ¼ cup mild soap per gallon of water.
  2. Spray on entire area and allow to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes.
  3. Remove stain with a sponge, clean towel or very soft bristle brush.
  4. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
  5. Allow fabric to air dry.
  6. If stain and/or mildew are severe, bleach quantities may be increased.

Professional Cleaning
In evaluating the services of a professional firm, you should inquire about the firm’s experience in working with 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabrics and knowledge of cleaning and re-treatment requirements.

DO NOT dry clean 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabrics.

Backing Recommendations
• Do not back fabrics that will be used for exteriors.
• We do not recommend knit backing for solution-dyed acrylic as it may cause warping.
• Acrylic backing is recommended for some indoor upholstery applications. Please consult with your workroom to determine if backing is necessary.
