Meet The Maker
caroline perrin
French artist Caroline Perrin has revived the nearly extinct art of shell marquetry through sheer determination and self-teaching. What began as beachcombing along the Atlantic coast in 1997 evolved into a full-time practice as demand for her work grew. Perrin transforms everyday objects with intricate arrangements of French and tropical shells, their natural colors and forms creating baroque patterns. She remains one of the few practitioners keeping this ancient decorative tradition alive in France.
