Artist Highlight: Margot Larkin
Margot Larkin is a storyteller. Hand-painted imagery replaces prose, capturing the essence of an object and inspiring the imagination. She has created magical objects for us since we opened our doors in 2020. Faux bamboo lamps, ferns painted on fine glassware, and mushroom lamps featured in Elle Decor are some of our most popular items. Like mushrooms, no two pieces are the same, and new ones keep popping up.
✤ Q & A ✤
How has your style developed over time?
My style has developed in unexpected ways. I was reminded recently of the significance and power of the human hand in art. I have come to appreciate the fallibility in my own hands. My work reflects this. My style is much more dimensional and personal now. No image is a duplicate of another.
To you, what makes a house a home?
Love.
Motto or favorite quote?
AICHAKU is a beautiful concept that describes the deep attachment and affection we can have for an object. It's not just about what the object does, but what it is and the history and care that went into creating it. When we use something we love, we leave a part of ourselves on it, and it becomes a part of our story. As an artist, I strive to create pieces with AICHAKU that will be loved and cherished forever.

Hosting tips?
It's important to make your guests feel welcome and comfortable. A giant welcoming smile and genuine happiness towards seeing your guests can go a long way in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. And, of course, candles are a great way to add ambiance and create a cozy environment.
