Artist Highlight: Jodee Molina
Jodee Molina is an artist whose work with color and the feminine form celebrate the happy, in-between moments of life. Her compositions vacillate between abstract shape, florals and the feminine figure. Jodee’s visual aesthetic is informed by her travels, her love of Latin culture and music, the books she has read and the light in the Llano Estacado High Plains where she resides. She considers herself a story-teller and poet, who expresses herself through paint. Casa Branca commissioned a series of captivating custom floral silhouettes from Jodee to celebrate the Palm Beach's store redesign.

Where do you find inspiration?
Everywhere! Walking the streets of colorful cities, fashion, fabrics, flowers, beautiful hotels, the huge Texas sky, my daughter, latin love songs and on Instagram, of course!
Favorite museum?
Casa Luis Barragán is an incredible architectural gem and wonderful museum. I would love to return to the Fondation Louis Vuitton to see the current Joan Mitchell-Monet exhibit.
What's on your bucket list?
Listening to the sounds of the bamboo forest outside of Kyoto, drinking mint tea in Marrakesh and admiring waterfalls in Kauai are currently at the top of my bucket list.
Where is your happy place?
My happy place is anywhere with my family. I also love being in my studio surrounded by color, ideas and light.
Any tips for budding artists?
Paint everyday and let your intuition move you as you work. Take walks outdoors. Expose yourself to as much art as you can. Visit museums, go to concerts, galleries, local art shows, and art fairs. Listen to online talks- the Tate has great YouTube videos. Grow your community of artist friends and talk to them about their art and your own! You will learn so much!
Favorite room in your house?
My reading room. It has sentimental family heirlooms, my perfumes and my books. It is where my daughter and I drink tea and gossip. It is where my best friends sit and chat when they visit. It is where I can always take a nap. It is a wonderful room.
Best housewarming gift?
I really enjoy clocks that chime. The sound of the hour ringing is comforting to me. It is a gift I have enjoyed receiving and giving.
Favorite artist dead or alive?
Matisse and Albers tie for my affection. I love them for their way with color. A current contemporary artist I admire is Olafur Eliasson.
