✤ Q & A ✤
How has your style developed over time?
My style is a result of many twists and turns over the years. It evolves through constant experimentation, an openness to accidents, and exhausting practice.
Favorite artists?
I am inspired by many, from Italian Renaissance masters to contemporary artists. I receive something special from them all. At the moment, I am inspired by Las Vegas artist Rita Deanin Abbey.
Where do you find inspiration?
My inspiration comes from within, but I have to be inspired to continue to create in the first place! Through the act of creating, I encourage that part of myself that allows me to express my pure creativity. That’s when I feel most comfortable.
Is there something you'd like to learn how to do next?
I like to experiment repeatedly in the same medium because I get different results each time! I have many techniques that keep me learning. I am always revising those and expanding my oeuvre — the work never ends!
What are some of the challenges you've faced as an artist?
Isolation and having a different perception of things. Getting bogged down with having to do it all — promoting myself, marketing, prototyping, and sometimes doing things that are totally impractical.
To you, what makes a house a home?
Your family, a garden with trees, renovating a space to make it yours, and cats (I love rag dolls).
